Animals For Adoption (2)
A few days ago, I wrote a post about animals for adoption (are waiting for you…). For animal loves this topic is so important, and I’ve got a ton of comments on this adoption post. So I decided to write another post about animals for adoption… A pet can bring fun and companionship into any home. There are many animals for adoption through various shelters across the United States. Millions of these potential pets are put to sleep each year. This can be avoided if people look to these places when seeking animals for adoption.
Some people love a purebred pet. The idea of finding animals for adoption in a shelter would not seem like a viable option for a purebred fan. Not many people know that almost 30 percent of the animals for adoption in shelters are purebreds. A person who wants a specific breed can work with his local shelter on finding his ideal pet.
Why not take in a pet that is in need rather than working with expensive breeders? Some would argue that they prefer having a little puppy or kitten rather than a full grown pet. However, many of the animals for adoption are still very young. All it takes is a few minutes with a volunteer or shelter representative to find what you are looking for.
You may find your dream pet in unexpected places. We were looking for a pure bred lab but we fell in love with one of the other animals for adoption in the shelter instead. This fully grown dog is a mixed breed but she has such personality that we had to take her home. We didn’t get the pet we thought we wanted but we got the best pet for our family.
I was a little apprehensive about finding animals for adoption in a shelter. One of my worries was the animal’s behavior. I was under the impression that most of these pets were unmanageable. I also worried about issues like housetraining as well as the dog’s ability to follow directions.
We were thrilled to discover that we had adopted a well-trained, well-behaved dog. In fact, we doubted that we could have done a better job training her ourselves. The benefit of finding animals for adoption at shelters is that you are very likely to find one that is fully trained. I loved that I didn’t have to worry about pet stains.
Many people equate an animal shelter to pet jails. Animals for adoption in these facilities are not there because of their behavior. They wind up there because of their unfortunate circumstances. You can become a hero to your potential pet pal by taking a little time to search through the various animals for adoption in your area. There is probably one waiting just for you.
