It’s fun to see that different people prefer different sizes of dog. A big watch dog is mostly associated with a dominant male person, and a very small nervous dog is connected with elegant ladies… I used to think that there was nothing like a German Shepherd or a Rottweiler to make me feel safe. I had a sense of security when going to be at night. A small dog would never have given me that sense of security when it is dark outside and I hear things that go bump in the night. My big dogs would have used a small dog as a squeaky toy. I like to go out for walks and have people size up my big dog before approaching. I never feared being attacked when I was out walking. Having pets around is a real pleasure, expecially if you have kids. But don’t forget that taking good care of your animals asks for a decent budget: don’t be taken by surprise afterwards! In the next weeks we are going to present some very different dog breeds. Everybody who is thinking about taking a dog or a puppy in the family should be informed very well. Choose a dog that fits into your situation: are youliving on an appartment, or do you have a very big closed garden? Would you like to run with your dog, or do you prefer a dog that doesn’t need any exercise… One of my favorite breeds of dog is the Pointer. They have a very placid temperament and get along with people and other dogs. The English Pointer dog was bred as a gun dog and is very efficient in the field. They are known for their alertness.
